Let’s face it, nowadays not many of us have the luxury of a dedicated office space. Lord knows I wish I sure did, but with 4 kids, all of the rooms in my house are taken!
Don’t let limited space stop you from creating a home office. All you need to do is think outside of the box and get a big creative. In other words, work with what you have. You’d be surprised on what your end result will look like.
I’ve come up with a few ideas for to help get your creative juices flowing for when you are ready to create your home office space.
Home Office Decorating Ideas for Small Spaces Idea #1: Utilize Your Walls
I feel that if you can find a home for your nick naks, then somehow you will remain sane. There’s nothing like a mountain of clutter to deflate your work flow. So to avoid this as much as possible, I would advise to go vertical and use up as much wall space as possible. The easy way to do this is with lots of shelving. Add some storage boxes to keep all of the ugly clutter contained.
Home Office Decorating Ideas for Small Spaces Idea #2: Buy Double Duty Furniture
Spend your money wisely. Who says that your sofa table has to be used only as a sofa table? Pull up a chair and bam, it’s now a work space? The magic is in thinking outside of the box girl.
Home Office Decorating Ideas for Small Spaces Idea #3: Can You Spare a Closet?
Then why not tuck in a desk and some wall shelves? Pretty up the walls with some wallpaper and viola now you’ve got a spanking new office space that can be easily tucked away by closing your door!
Home Office Decorating Ideas for Small Spaces Idea #4: Behind a Curtain
Pull back the curtains; now you see it. oh wait, close the curtains back up & now you don’t. Good bye office space. Perfect for when you have guests over or if you just simply need a break from work.
Home Office Decorating Ideas for Small Spaces Idea #5: Under Your Staircase
Use up the dead space under your stairs for a home office. So unexpected oh and nice and cozy too.
Home Office Decorating Ideas for Small Spaces Idea #6: Disguise It With a Hutch or Armoire
What’s behind the door? Is it a TV, is it a wardrobe or is it an office? Only you will know!
Let me tell you, I walk my talk! My “office” is in a teeny corner in my dining room…hey it’s not perfect, but it works (at least for now). I pimped out my walls with shelving and to keep my sanity, I purchased some storage cubes to house all of my supplies (out of sight, out of mind). Whenever I feel the need to spread out, I move on over to the dinning table.
